Before PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN— … There was TREASURE ISLAND! Climb aboard with THEATRE THREE for the world premiere production of this thrilling musical adventure. Buried treasure and danger abound as young Jim Hawkins sets sail in search of fortune, little knowing he has boarded a pirate ship. Surprises await him, including that most unforgettable pirate: Long John Silver! Set against a phenomenal Broadway-style score, TREASURE ISLAND is a swashbuckling musical for the entire family! Gary William Friedman and Will Holt who wrote the rousing score created the landmark hit musical THE ME NOBODY KNOWS which received five Tony Award nominations as well as winner of both the Obie and Drama Desk Awards. Friedman and Holt are joined on TREASURE ISLAND by Sherman Yellen (Tony-nominated for the Broadway musical THE ROTHCHILDS which won two Tony Awards, and libretttist/lyricist for the recent regional theater hit JOSEPHINE TONIGHT as well as an Emmy and Peabody Award-winner for AN EARLY FROST and THE ADAMS CHRONICLES) provides the book for this high-spirited high seas adventure.
